United Kingdom Adhesion Society

Organisation name
United Kingdom Adhesion Society
Description
The UK Adhesion Society, UKAS is a voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting awareness, aiding research and working towards improved treatments, while bringing comfort and hope to those diagnosed with a debilitating condition known as ARD (Adhesions Related Disorders) a distressing condition that will affect up to 93% of those who undergo surgery. (H Ellis 1990) Adhesions are more prevalent than most people realise although they are still not clearly recognised nor understood. It’s only in the last few years with the onset of the internet and Societies like UKAS that medical professionals are beginning to realize the full extent of this condition. For those suffering, it is often a lonely existence, confused, frustrated, in chronic pain and receiving little or no answers from the medical profession or understanding from family or friends.
