There are over 70 contact volunteers for the Colostomy Association. These are people who are dedicated to helping colostomates (people with a colostomy) and their families. They are there to:
Attend open/information days, coffee mornings and roadshows.
Be at the end of the phone.
Visit people at hospital.
Visit people at home.
Write articles for other professional magazines.
Where needed, set up and manage support groups.
Update their training.
Raise money where possible for the Colostomy Association.
They also produce a quarterly magazine 'Tidings' which is circulated to their 18,000 members.
